The Elks Lodge of Destin is comprised of 80 members. They may be smaller in size, but they have accentuated the Elks mission statement of “Helping Build Stronger Communities.”
Each year, the Arc of the Emerald Coast plans a trip to William J. Rish Recreational Park, a state park that is fully accessible to individuals with disabilities. The Arc of the Emerald Coast takes those it serves with intellectual and developmental disabilities on a four-day trip to promote independence, life skills and having fun.
The Arc’s mission is “From Disability to Capability,” and the Rish Park trip is one way they are able to support their mission with the assistance of Elks Lodge #2688 and the local community.
For more information about this program and many other services provided by the Arc, call 850-863-1530 (Fort Walton Beach) or 850-623-9320 (Milton). More at arcemeraldcoast.org.
