How ‘Que Can You Get?

Second place in the People’s Choice went to the Grande Vista Bar & Grill. Jackacudas Seafood & Sushi took top honors in that category, while third place went to Miramar Beach’s Surf Hut. The Hut also won Best Booth.

Our friends from Landshark’s Pizza (see Bartender of the Issue) won Best Traditional BBQ, while the Seafood BBQ prize went to Hooks on the Harbor and Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville (a tie, extra credit to the latter for including the tasty beverage).

Destination Donuts tied with Dave’s Dogs for Most Creative BBQ, while the Best New Entry award went to Panini Pete’s. The Crowd Favorite Brewery pick was Idyll Hounds of Santa Rosa Beach.

I was honored—and later stuffed—to serve as one of the so-called Celebrity Judges for HarborWalk Village’s recent Blues, Brews & BBQ event. We blind tasted over a dozen creations from area restaurants and judged each dish in various categories. I posted photos of all of them on The Beachcomber’s Instagram page.

My fellow tasters (including at least one rock star, a barbecue expert, a PR goddess, and a reporter for a “real” newspaper) then wobbled out to the harbor to learn who made what. Personally, I was very impressed by the creativity of the Grande Vista, the presentation of Crab Island Cantina, and the overall deliciousness of Panini Pete’s.

Thanks to HarborWalk’s Marisa Marinan for sharing these photos, and congrats to everyone.
