According to 28-year-old barkeep Preble, there is no shame in asking for a drink to be made the way you like it.


“If your bartender gets annoyed because you like less sugar in your drink or more vermouth, find a new bartender,” he says. “Likewise, if you have a respectful bartender who politely suggests you try your Manhattan with a new whiskey she has, don’t be afraid of trying something new. You might end up with a new favorite.”


His take on tips: “A dollar per drink minimum or 10 to 15 percent. If you’re dining at the bar, 15 to 20 percent is standard. More is always appreciated. If you want to tip, sure, go right ahead.”


Preble has lived has lived a few places between Fort Walton Beach to Panama City Beach. Currently, he resides in Laguna Beach with Christina, their son Rowan, and golden retriever Zeus.


“I’ve been tending the bar for about five years now, and I’ve loved every minute of it,” he says.
