“Parking is much better,” says Leitz Music operations manager Doug “Dr. D” Dickerson of the store’s recent move to Uptown Station in Fort Walton Beach. “And there are lots of good food choices here for lunch.” Oddly enough, the seemingly endless road/bridge construction on Beal Parkway—Leitz’s location for many years—just wrapped up.
The new spot, while tighter, still boasts a breathtaking array of guitars, including fresh Fender Elites and 2016 Gibson Les Pauls. The staff includes Beachcomberland musicians Dickerson—guitarist with Hubba Hubba, Something Fishy and Emerald Coast Blues Brothers—along with Tim Prescott (Flash Flood) and Greg Mandel (Black Eyed Blonde, Slingo).
Store hours are 10 a.m.‑ 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
“You might want to mention that we have lots of hand sanitizer,” says Prescott, indicating an industrial‑sized Purell dispenser on the counter. “People can sanitize their hands and wrap them around a new guitar.”
