Bartender of the Issue – Jesica West

“Jesica is the rudest, meanest, scariest employee I’ve ever had work for me,” says La Paz honcho Chatham Morgan with a twinkle in his eye. “And great love,” he adds.


Jesica was born and raised in Destin. “Chatham and I grew up together,” she says. “I’ve been coming to this restaurant since it opened.” When she’s not tending bar—her current schedule finds her at La Paz Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays—she like to hunt and fish and “be on the water. Anything outside.”


La Paz’s award-winning margaritas are the beverage of choice for most folks. “The pineapple jalapeno is my favorite,” says Jesica. “(We take) silver tequila, cut-up pineapple and jalapeno and let it sit for a few days so it can infuse. It’s delicious. And dangerous!”
